Israel’s defense minister says Iran’s Larijani was killed

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced on Tuesday that Ali Larijani, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, was “eliminated” Monday night.

“Larijani and the Basij commander were eliminated last night and joined the head of the annihilation program, Khamenei, and all the eliminated members of the axis of evil in the depths of hell,” Katz said.

“The prime minister and I have instructed the IDF to continue hunting the leadership of the terror and repression regime in Iran, and to repeatedly sever the head of the octopus and not allow it to grow,” he added.

Iran has yet to confirm Larijani’s alleged killing. Iran’s state-affiliated Tasnim news agency later posted a purported hand-written note from Larijani on its Telegram channel mourning navy members who were killed. The letter was dated March 17.

Larijani is among Iran’s most powerful civilian officials and was close to slain Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
